About this trip

Join us for seven days and six nights, as we journey through landscapes so surreal they feel otherworldly: towering waterfalls, volcanic cliffs, black-sand beaches, glacier lagoons, and steaming geothermal pools.

We’ll wander through lava fields and fishing villages on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula (often called “Iceland in Miniature” for its stunning variety), stand between two continents in Þingvellir National Park, soak in a natural hot spring, cruise past icebergs at Jökulsárlón, and chase the beauty of Iceland’s wild South Coast all the way to Europe’s largest glacier.

Between Reykjavík’s quirky charm, iconic road trip routes, and a few hidden gems off the tourist trail, this adventure is the perfect blend of bucket list moments and unforgettable surprises.

This isn’t just a trip, it’s Iceland at its most extraordinary, and we can’t wait to experience it with you!

About your Tour Leader & Local Guides

In addition to having Matt and Nat as your hosts for the trip, you will be accompanied by a tour leader whose aim is to take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. Your leader will provide information on the places you are traveling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, recommend great local eating venues, and introduce you to local friends. While not being guides in the traditional sense, you can expect them to have a broad general knowledge of the places visited on the trip, including historical, cultural, religious, and social aspects. In addition to your tour leader, for certain inclusions, you will be accompanied by a local guide. A local guide has specialized knowledge of a site or location you are visiting. If there is a local guide provided for a particular activity, this will be listed in your day-by-day itinerary.

Terms & Conditions/Cancellation Policy

Reserve your spot with a deposit of $500 USD and choose how to pay your total balance (surcharges vary: 0% for ACH,  2.9% for Credit Cards, and 3.9% for AMEX).

After paying your deposit, you can immediately pay your remaining balance in full, or take advantage of the no-interest (0%) installments. If you choose to pay via interest-free installments, payments will be processed automatically in six installments, due monthly up to 90 days before departure using the following payment schedule:

• October 9, 2025

• November 9, 2025

• December 9, 2025

• January 9, 2026

• February 9, 2026

• March 9, 2026

Note: If the deposit is initially paid after one of these dates, all installments due prior must be paid at the time of booking.

Payment Methods:

We accept payment via ACH (electronic payments from a USA bank account) or Credit Card. There is no surcharge for ACH electronic payments, while Credit Cards will add 2.9% to each transaction/automatic payment (3.9% for AMEX). All payments must be made through the WeTravel platform. We do not accept checks or alternative methods of payment.

Note: Surcharges for payments are not included in the trip package price. Additionally, WeTravel charges a service fee starting at 1% of the transaction amount plus 30 cents per transaction on all payment methods.

Cancellations and Refunds:

Our cancellation policy is based on the days until the trip starts.

Once your spot is confirmed (i.e., the trip has 10 or more bookings), your initial trip deposit is non-refundable but can be used for any future trip with Adventures of Matt and Nat. However, if you have made any additional payments above and beyond the deposit, those are fully refundable until 120 days prior to the trip start date.

We highly recommend purchasing trip insurance that provides "cancel for any reason" or other coverage for non-refundable trip costs.

• Cancellation made from the time of booking to 120 days prior to departure: we will hold the deposit amount as a credit towards future trips with Adventures of Matt and Nat

• Cancellation between 119 - 90 days prior to the trip start date will incur 50% cancellation fees

• Cancellation 89 days or less prior to the trip start date will incur 100% cancellation fees

• No-shows will be treated as cancellations and will incur 100% cancellation fees.

Insurance & Liability Terms

We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel insurance to protect against unexpected events, including trip cancellations, delays, medical emergencies, lost luggage, or other unforeseen circumstances. If paying for your trip with a credit card (see payments section), check for coverage benefits that may apply for international travel through your credit card.

For travel insurance, we recommend TravelInsurance.com

For travelers who reside within the European Union, Switzerland, or the USA, the requirement to purchase travel insurance cannot be compulsory due to local regulations.

However, the purchase of travel insurance is still highly recommended, and travelers from these regions who decline travel insurance when traveling outside of their home region must sign a Travel Insurance Waiver Form at the Group Meeting (on day 1 of the trip), recognizing personal responsibility for emergency medical and repatriation costs should they arise.

Please note that Adventures of Matt and Nat (and our partners) are not responsible for any loss, damage, injury, illness, or expenses incurred during the trip. Travelers participate at their own risk.

Passports, Visas, & Entry Requirements

Passport

You’ll need a valid passport to travel internationally and most countries require your passport to have a minimum of 6 months validity, so remember to check the expiry date.

We need your passport information to prepare everything for your trip so the information on your booking must match your passport exactly. Please take care to provide the correct details.

Visas & Entry Requirements

Many countries require a visa and obtaining the correct visa for your trip and any countries you may transit through is your responsibility. We recommend you check your visa requirements as soon as you have booked your trip. This will ensure you have time to prepare your documents and process your visa application.

Reykjavik / Snaefellsnes Peninsula

After breakfast, we’ll head out on a scenic drive to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, often called “Iceland in Miniature” for its incredible variety of landscapes. Our day begins in the coastal village of Arnarstapi, where a short walk along the cliffs reveals dramatic basalt formations, sea arches, and thriving birdlife. We’ll continue on to the Lóndrangar Basalt Cliffs, two striking volcanic rock pinnacles that rise straight from the shoreline. From there, we’ll visit Djúpalónssandur Beach, a hauntingly beautiful stretch of black pebbles dotted with the rusted remains of a shipwreck and views of the Snæfellsjökull glacier in the distance. We’ll finish the day at the iconic Kirkjufell Mountain and Kirkjufellsfoss Waterfall—one of the most photographed spots in all of Iceland—before making our way back to Reykjavík for the evening.

Golden Circle

Today we’ll depart Reykjavik as we follow Iceland’s famous Golden Circle route, a must-see for any traveler. Our first stop is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Iceland’s parliament was founded in 930 AD. This is also where you’ll find the Silfra Fissure, the only place in the world where you can see the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates above the surface. Next up is the Geysir geothermal area, home to the lively Strokkur geyser, which erupts every few minutes, sending steaming water high into the air. From there, we’ll visit the powerful Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders, where glacial waters thunder into a deep canyon. Before heading to our accommodations, we’ll unwind at the Secret Lagoon, Iceland’s oldest natural pool. With warm, mineral-rich waters and bubbling geothermal activity surrounding it, this is the perfect spot to soak, relax, and reflect on an incredible day.

South Coast

Today we’ll set out along Iceland’s stunning South Coast, a region filled with dramatic scenery and natural wonders at every turn. We’ll start with two beautiful waterfalls: Gljúfrabúi, a hidden gem tucked behind a canyon wall, and Gluggafoss, also known as Merkjarfoss, where cascades tumble down layers of volcanic rock. Continuing east, we’ll stop at the famous black-sand beaches near Reynisdrangar, where towering basalt sea stacks rise from the waves, and at Dyrhólaey Nature Reserve, home to sweeping ocean views and dramatic cliffs. The highlight of the day awaits at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Here, massive icebergs break away from Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier and drift through the lagoon before floating out to sea. We’ll take a boat ride among the icebergs, an unforgettable way to experience the scale and beauty of this icy wonder. Just across the road, we’ll also visit Diamond Beach, where shimmering chunks of ice wash ashore on the black sand, creating one of Iceland’s most surreal sights.

It’s a truly bucket-list adventure and a powerful reminder of Iceland’s ever-changing landscapes. Afterward, we’ll continue exploring Vatnajökull National Park, a wilderness of glaciers, mountains, and waterfalls. A short hike brings us to Svartifoss, where water tumbles over striking black basalt columns that inspired some of Iceland’s most famous architecture. In the evening, we’ll make our way to the charming seaside village of Vík, where you’ll have a free night to explore, relax, or enjoy dinner at a local spot.

Vik / Reykjavik

On our way back to Reykjavík, we’ll chase a few more of Iceland’s incredible waterfalls. First up is Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the curtain of water for a one-of-a-kind view (bring a raincoat!). Then it’s on to the powerful Skógafoss, plunging 60 meters from the cliffs above. If you’re up for it, climb the staircase beside the falls for sweeping views of the coast. We’ll round things out at Urriðafoss, Iceland’s most voluminous waterfall, located along the country’s longest river. Before returning to the capital, we’ll step inside Raufarhólshellir Lava Tunnel, one of Iceland’s longest lava caves. Formed during a volcanic eruption over 5,000 years ago, its massive lava tubes reveal the island’s explosive geological past. Back in Reykjavík, we’ll head out on a short orientation walk with our leader and have the chance to sample one of Iceland’s most beloved local eats—the classic hot dog. In the evening, we’ll gather one last time for a Farewell Dinner (location to be announced), the perfect way to celebrate our week of adventures together!
